Damnit wrk! 2 posts in this thread and no explanation. Really?
Joey, as you know I am also a Bogie fan and a noir fan, so naturally Maltese Falcon is a fav of mine.
As far as my moniker, about 10 years ago I worked nights at a newspaper press with a bunch of older guys who gambled and drank. I started hanging out with them after work playing poker. It was exciting because I was 19 and it was my first real taste of being a man so to speak. You know, drinking beers, smoking stogies, bitching about the women in our lives. I don't think I really fit in with these guys, but they let me hang around. Well, I picked up the game pretty quickly. I started winning a lot of cash at these games and they started calling me "professor." It caught on too. I don't think anyone at work called me Adam after that. There was a poker player back then who was a young guy and was very successful named Howard Lederer who was nicknamed "the professor," so I think that's where they got it from. Anyway, shortly thereafter I discovered online poker and I had to come up with a user name. Naturally "professor" was taken, so I used a variant with my nickname, last name and birth year. Hence, profholt82. That's been my online name pretty much everywhere ever since. Funny thing is, I haven't played poker in years. They passed some legislation in the states, so I couldn't even if I wanted to.
