Alright, I know there is a thread like this on NintendoAge for NES games. I am on a quest to document the contents of every Sega Genesis game. I am doing it as best I can based on CIB games in my collection and via eBay - I try to verify via multiple citings.

You can view my project/spreadhsheet at any time here:
https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...

Now, although I've done a lot with CIB games, really the best way to verify a game's contents is through opening a sealed copy. In my spreadsheet you'll notice games colored in blue that have been opened from sealed games.

I have a few games I'll open. If you have any games you'd like to open please post it in here.
ALTERNATIVELY, IF YOU ALREADY OPENED A GAME IN YOUR COLLECTION, PLEASE POST IT HERE AS WELL.

Alright, so first up: Shaq-Fu:

After the shrinkwrap is removed, this is how the CD is held to the case:

Game Contents (other than manual it just has an "EA Action Games Brain Drain" insert:

And lastly, here is the inside of the CD sleeve (you can view the back of it from when the game is sealed - it just looks like the back of the game):

Now that I've opened the game and verified its contents, I've put it up for sale in B/S/T for anyone that wants to get the CD. Asking $17 shippped for everything you see in the pics (I can include the discarded shrinkwrap if buyer wants)

I've opened a few games myself such as gemfire, bible adventures, and nba jam non trading card variant cause I thought they were re-seals. I still have a few sealed games but they look so perfect I can't justify opening them. As for the one listed, their seals sucked and nba jam had a suntan from a display window. I have some strange excitment when opening these games, the smell, the crisp-ness of the boxes and color of the artwork and minty labels. It takes me back and gives me that christmas feeling, what's going to be on the inside?

lol I know the feeling!  I've often thought of buying a sealed console just to open and have that same excitement like it was 1990 again (thats when I first bought a genesis).

I would probably youtube the opening of it then watch the hate mail role in....

This is an awesome idea what your doing. I recently opened a sealed vectorman 2 but I just packed my games in a box for moving. But I'll post pictures as soon as I can. I hope this gets more support.

I look forward to seeing your Vectorman 2. I'm pretty sure of the contents, but verification is always good.

Here is Unnecessary Roughness. I am a little uneasy about these contents. The manual shows some wear and the paper insert is white (where as I see one item in "Sold listings" that has the same insert, but printed on blue). I have a second copy that I could open up, but we'll see.

OK, here are a couple pictures of my ATP Tour Championship Tennis. I bought this sealed in August 2012, and opened it sometime last year. (Obviously I kept all the contents.)

As you can see, the only thing included besides the game, manual, and tray is the Sega Visions card ("Enclosed: Winner's Instruction Manual"), with the code WA 11 in the corner.

Note the clear plastic hangtab attached to the shrinkwrap on the back of my copy. Also, the shrinkwrap in front has two columns with three sets of clean, evenly-spaced holes about one inch apart -- were those for ventilation or something? -- and the cart label shows signs of Actiplaque (can't remember if it was that way when I opened it, or if it's happened over the past year).

As promised, here are the sealed games I opended as of late.

I opened these cause their clamshells were crushed and the cases needed to be replaced. Really suprised that Stargate did not come with a reg card. All that was in there was a poster and manual.

There was not in this one.  Nothing woudl lead me to believe it was a reseal.  The contents all appear new, and the plastic on the box was not suspect.

Here's my copy of Punisher that I opened up 2 years ago. I know you already have it as complete in the doc but I thought posting a pic would be a bit more helpful.

This sounds accusing, but I am trying to be polite.
Why would this have a "Majesco Sales Genesis Classics" Warranty card in it ?  Can you double check that ?  I doubt that came with your copy.  I have a generic Capcom Warranty card that came in one of my CIB Copies.
I am not at home right now and cannot check where the game was assembled or made (USA vs Japan, vs Mexico (Majesco)

As far as I know, it was a Capcom Release and Majesco did not have anything to do with it.

Group Thoughts ?

Yeah that's the wrong card.
Must have mixed it up somehow.

Your stuff probably pulled a Toy Story one night and the little rapscallion reg. cards ran all about in a grand ruckus with much tomfoolery and shenanigans.

I was as confused as you are when I bought this but this was in fact factory sealed. I bought 3 copies from the seller and they were all in immaculate condition. I sold one to a member in Canada and the other on eBay. We never dicussed it so this might be a good oppurtunity. You guys think all three copies were reseals?

Also, my copy says "Made in Japan".

EDIT: If it helps, pictures were taken same day within seconds of each other.

Oh lookie here what I found on Google in my TOP SEKRIT 'VESTIGATIONS...
http://segaage.com/forum/messagev...

I don't have a Punisher to reference, but you should go check your copy.
Is that majesco stuff on the back side of the capcom front?

Here is a picture you posted in 2011

Holy balls! How did this thing get mixed up

Just checked and it is in fact the Majesco Warranty card. However, that copy is a different one from the one pictured above. This is actually my second copy that I ended up selling on eBay.

I have had maybe 5 Punisher in varying states of CIB come through my possession, this is my CIB Copy.

The artwork, manual, and game all say made in Japan.  I really have a hard time thinking  that the Majesco card is supposed to be in there.

I'm with you man I honestly think I mixed things up when I was taking pictures. From what I remember I took pictures of more than one game that day so I may have mixed things up.

Off topic a bit but I was disappointed in the gameplay of The Punisher. Nice copy though!

Thanks all for the submissions. I've added everything here to my spreadsheet.

I've kept Punisher as it was originally listed in my spreadsheet (with the Capcom reg card). I think I had seen acomicbookguy's post when he first posted it but before there were any replies. I am glad others chimed in as I was also suspicious. I am also glad galacticlint pulled up that picture from 2011 with what should be the correct reg card

Picked up a beat-up but sealed copy of Toys off of eBay recently and figured it was a good candidate for opening:

The registration card was located underneath the manual and facedown.
